Overview:
In this course students will have the opportunity to learn extensive musical concepts, an overview of music history, culture, and various genres. A general understanding of music theory, the fundamentals of music, and music vocabulary will also be imbedded into their lessons through the use of piano playing and singing. Students are also expected to constructively critique various styles of music and self-evaluate their own music reviews implementing the principles learned in the course. Upon completion of the course students will have a greater understanding and appreciation of music, musical cultures, performing, composing, and its relationship to the arts.

Course Portfolio:
HRHS is a portfolio based school that focuses on developing specific music competencies. Students will be expected to complete all portfolio assignments and a semester reflection paper in a timely manner to receive a passing grade.
Cheating and Plagiarizing:
Cheating and plagiarizing are very serious offenses and will not be tolerated lightly so don’t do it.
Grading:
Grading is based on attendance, classwork, participation, assignments, exams, and projects.
Late Work:
Late work is inexcusable and will affect the grade. Don’t wait until the end of the semester to turn in your work. It is up to my discretion to accept your work if it’s late.
